01Why this name

Four letters every drug developer knows.

ADME is standard vocabulary in pharmacology and drug discovery. Pair it with chip and the name says exactly what the product does.

DefinitionADME
A
Absorption uptake into the bloodstream
D
Distribution movement into tissues
M
Metabolism chemical conversion, largely in the liver
E
Excretion removal from the body
  1. P1

Names the question, not just the device.

Scientists looking for ADME models already use the acronym. The domain meets them in their own vocabulary.

  2. P2

    Built for the organ-on-chip era.

Microfluidic chips can link gut, liver and kidney tissue models, which maps naturally onto the four ADME stages.

  3. P3

Short, exact and easy to say.

Eight characters with no hyphens or numbers. It reads cleanly on a slide, a poster or a sales call.

  4. P4

Room to grow into a platform.

It fits a chip product, a contract research service line, an assay kit or a software layer for ADME data.

  5. P5

    A .com that signals substance.

A precise .com gives a new platform or spin-out an address that looks established from day one.

REFADME chip background

What an ADME chip is, and what it measures.

The four processes, the bench assays that measure them today, how linked organ chips extend them and how regulators treat the results, with sources.

Four processes, one question

Absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion describe what the body does to a compound, and exposure decides whether a dose reaches its target and how long it stays. Regulators expect the in vitro part of that answer before anyone is dosed: ICH M12, adopted in May 2024 and issued by the FDA as final guidance that August, sets out how a drug is tested against the main cytochrome P450 enzymes and the transporters that carry drugs across gut, liver and kidney cells.1 Transporters can be "major determinants of the pharmacokinetic, safety and efficacy profiles of drugs", as an international consortium put it in 2010.2

The bench assays an ADME chip builds on

Three assays carry most in vitro ADME work. Caco-2 monolayers, characterised as an intestinal permeability model in 1989,3 remain the permeability standard; ICH M9 accepts Caco-2 data while noting that the line can lack some efflux and uptake transporters.4 Microsomal stability estimates intrinsic clearance from liver microsomes; a 1999 study of 29 drugs found the in vitro half-life approach predicts human clearance best when binding to blood and microsomes is included.5 Hepatocyte assays add uptake and induction; M12 asks for induction data from hepatocytes of at least three donors.1 An ADME chip keeps these cell types, puts them under flow behind a polarised barrier, and connects them.

Gut, liver and kidney, linked by flow

A 2015 four-organ chip kept intestine, liver, skin and kidney equivalents in co-culture for 28 days on a pumped circuit and called itself the first system for "in vitro microfluidic ADME profiling".6 A 2017 gut-liver platform coupled the two tissues in continuous flow and, with a mechanistic model, extracted permeability and metabolic clearance for each.7 In 2020, fluidically coupled gut, liver and kidney chips, scaled computationally, predicted human pharmacokinetic parameters for an orally dosed compound: first-pass absorption, metabolism and excretion on chip.8 A review that year by pharmaceutical-industry scientists concluded that single-organ systems suit tissue-specific questions, while questions linking pharmacokinetics to efficacy or toxicity need inter-linked systems.9

Enzymes and transporters on chip

A chip is only useful for ADME if its cells keep the machinery the guidelines ask about. A duodenum chip built from organoids showed in vivo-like expression, localisation and function of major intestinal drug transporters and, against Caco-2, stronger CYP3A4 expression and induction.10 A proximal tubule chip under physiological shear reported P-gp efflux activity closer to in vivo than static culture,11 and a 3D microfluidic tubule expressed OAT1, OCT2, P-gp and MRP2/4 for transporter-interaction screening.12 The FDA's 2025 roadmap likewise describes a perfused liver chip "displaying liver-like metabolism".13

From chip readouts to PBPK

Physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models, which the FDA roadmap defines as "mathematical simulations of drug ADME",13 have reporting guidance from the FDA (2018) and the EMA (in effect since 2019).1415 A 2018 review argued that linked, vascularised organ chips can supply the organ-specific uptake, transport and metabolism inputs PBPK models have lacked, tightening in-vitro-to-in-vivo extrapolation.16 That software layer sits naturally beside the hardware under one name.

The regulatory context

United States law changed in December 2022. The FDA Modernization Act 2.0 replaced "preclinical tests (including tests on animals)" in the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act with "nonclinical tests", defined to include "organ chips and microphysiological systems" alongside cell-based assays, computer modeling and animal tests.17 The FDA's April 2025 roadmap plans to reduce animal use in preclinical safety studies with validated new approach methodologies such as organ-on-a-chip systems, starting with monoclonal antibodies,13 and its ISTAND program can qualify tissue chips as drug development tools.18 A May 2025 GAO assessment is the counterweight: organ chips "cannot replace animal testing but may be used alongside animals", and the next generation is "body-on-a-chip" systems linking intestine, liver and kidney.19 The NIH tissue-chip program pursues the same integrated goal.20 In Europe, the EMA is revising its 3Rs guideline; the October 2023 concept paper says knowledge of microphysiological systems "including organ-on-chip models" has "significantly evolved" and plans acceptance criteria for specific contexts of use.21 The OECD's 2018 GIVIMP guidance sets good practice for in vitro methods used in regulatory safety assessment.22

ADME chip, ADME-on-a-chip, ADME microphysiological system

Journals write "microphysiological systems for ADME-related applications"9 or "in vitro microfluidic ADME profiling".6 The statute says "organ chips and microphysiological systems";17 NIH says tissue chips;20 the EMA says organ-on-chip.21 Said aloud, all of it shortens to ADME chip, the form this domain holds. ADMET adds toxicity; that sibling name is noted in the offer section.

05Questions

Before you offer.

Is ADMEChip.com really available?

Yes. The domain is held directly by its owner and is available for acquisition now.

What does ADME mean?

ADME stands for absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion, the four processes that describe how a compound moves through and leaves the body. It is a standard term in pharmacology and drug development.

How do price and transfer work?

There is no fixed price; the domain is sold on an offer basis. Once terms are agreed, payment goes to an escrow service, the domain moves to your registrar account, and funds are released only after you confirm control.

Does this site offer testing or medical services?

No. This is a domain sale page. It does not provide medical advice or services. The hero animation is an illustrative simulation, not real data.

Is an ADME chip the same as an organ-on-a-chip?

Essentially yes. An ADME chip is an organ-on-a-chip, or several linked together, used to study absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion. Gut, liver and kidney chips are the usual building blocks, and regulators call the category microphysiological systems.

What does an ADME microphysiological system add to Caco-2 or microsomal assays?

Flow, barriers and connection. Cells sit on a membrane with medium moving past, so a compound must cross a polarised layer and reach a downstream tissue. Published chips report transporter and CYP3A4 activity closer to human tissue than static culture.

Do regulators accept data from ADME chips?

The FDA Modernization Act 2.0 (2022) lists organ chips and microphysiological systems among nonclinical tests, the FDA's 2025 roadmap plans to reduce animal use with such methods, and ISTAND can qualify tissue chips. A 2025 GAO assessment notes they complement rather than replace animal studies today, and the EMA is drafting acceptance criteria for organ-on-chip models.

Can chip data feed PBPK models?

Yes. PBPK models take in vitro permeability, clearance and transport inputs, and the FDA and the EMA both publish guidance on reporting them. A 2018 review describes linked organ chips as a source of organ-specific inputs those models have lacked.

Does buying ADMEChip.com include chips, assays or data?

No. The sale is the domain name only: no hardware, protocols, datasets, services or trademarks, and no connection to any organisation cited on this page is implied. The background above is published research, shown to explain the term.
